You need to clear the dif files, there are a few ways to do that, do a search.

The other thing you need to make sure of is that your server and your client are using the same versions, so if you have your server look in 1 folder for muls and your client in another, make sure you copy the file to both locations. I know this is very basic, but it is often overlooked.

What are dif files, are these the things making me fall into hills or making Yew exist. When you say clear does this mean delete

Do i have to patch the difs on gateway?
Are these dif files why i am seeing Yew on my map or why i fall into hills?

No, and actually you dont even realy have to clear those files if you are using RunUO. just disable the TileMatrix. search for that on this forum, I have explained this many, many times, and have even pasted the code needed.

What this does for RunUO, is tell the core to not read the Diff files at all. Also, any clients that log in will not see anything from diff files whatsoever. so no need to alter and/or distribute modified diff files to players.

Ok i added that file and put it in scripts/misc folder, i then reloaded the server and i was still falling into hills, could i have a dodgy map, or did i add the file in the wrong place?

That will only disallow the reading of the 'diff' files, eg; Mapdif0.mul, stadif0.mul, etc.. your falling into hills because the server (RunUO) and your Client (Ultima Online) are reading from different map files that are obviously not identical.
So basicly, you must have RunUO running from a different UO directory, or a custom UO file path.. and you have not updated RunUO and your UO folder with the same map/static files.

:D maybe i should put a readme in with the maps

Both my client and server should be reading from the UO2d files. I haven't set up a second set to freeze and unfreeze yet, at the moment everything is being read from same uo2d folder

and you have only one Ultima Online install?

Author:  Guest [ Tue Feb 24, 2004 3:03 am ]

Yes, well 2 if you include 3d, but i am running it off 2d. I even put the customised map folders directly into the uo2d folder and it still makes no difference

Ah i have stopped falling into hills, i had to restart server, but... Yew is still there. Shall i just use a map edit too to like paste over it?

Could it be static and staid files?

No, map difs. Just download from the file Nazgel pasted, and put those in your UO directory. They will (I believe) clear out every .dif file there is. .dif files are files that OSI uses for map updates. Instead of letting them download a whole new mapfile (which is kindof big) they let them download .dif file on updates, as they are relatively small. For small changes this is good. Therefor, clear them out and they'll be gone.

If you're using a custom map, then I highly doubt Yew is stil there. Unless.. you ARE using the correct statics you got with the mapfile, right?

Try that again in English. Came with what map?
Are we to understand that you are using the original statics from OSI still?
That would definitly be your problem. You need to run DragonSP after Dragon, freeze the statics you generated, clear the old ones. Copy ALL 3 of those files to your client and your server data directory (map0.mul, statics0.mul, staidix0.mul).

As far as the dif files honestly the easiest thing is just to delete them altogether (make a backup copy of them FIRST). I have found with the downloaded "blank" ones there are some areas that fill with void tiles.

From what he said, I clearly made out that he uses the staticx, staidx that came with the map he downloaded. So yeah, either delete or replace the diffs :p. Though telling future players to delete their diff's might be.. weird. Therefor I recommend empty ones for the players :o

This is your entire problem

RunUO will read off of both UO directories.. Sounds crazy, yes. But its completly the case. This had also hapened to me looong ago, and drove me nutz untill Krrios told me about this.
You need to either update both UO 2D, and UO 3D.. or disable one of them.. ( rename a UO install folder while you are worldbuilding maybe )
