Post subject: | Z elevation at -80? |
I'm positive this has been answered before, but my searching has produced nothing as yet. My apologies for those who are offended waiting to happen. What I am wanting to do is have my ocean at z -80. I have dug through the dragon files in attempts to discover the magic array or table that stats what colors are what altitudes, but cannot seem to uncover it. Would any kind souls have a finger with which to point me in the right direction? (And not your middle one either) ![]() Or is this hardcoded? (Please, no flames, it just isn't worth it.) Thanks |

the tables situation i donnot believe is hardcoded but one that is is the horrible range coded into dragon ... dragon only allows you to create tile in what is it a range of -5z to 90z i believe. My sudguestion is go look at TSMC by sydius this program has a much better range for tiles something like -127z to 100 something +z Unfortunatly at this moment TSMC only has like 4 or 5 different terrain types (water, grass, mountains, and sand) so alot more work is required but mountains etc look great! Good Luck |

Dragon will support all altitudes that the UO client does. You can change the maptrans.txt and have stuff at -127 if you like. Unless you have a very good reason for it I would strongly suggest against changing sealevel to -80. If it is just to get a more dramatic range of altitude the client really isn't going to support it very well. The screen simply displays too little at a time for a range of over 200 Z to be of practical use. Also if you want boats most emulators only support them properly at the default Z. |

you can set your altitudes to whatever you want in the MapTrans.txt within the Scripts folder of dragon. Code: // (02) water
20 02 -5 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab 00a9 00aa 00ab 21 02 048 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab 22 02 010 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab 23 02 015 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab a7 02 020 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab a8 02 025 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab a9 02 030 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab aa 02 035 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab ab 02 040 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab ac 02 045 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab ad 02 003 00a8 00a9 00aa 00ab the 3rd entry # is the altitude (mine are modified) setting it at -80 would cause no troubles at all, so long as you have the land mass it is going into transition correctly. the client will preform just fine at that level. the altitude the client works is -127 to 127. When your character hits 127, 128z is not 128, but actually a loop back to -127. so there is no 200 z level as Stormcrow stated. Depending on what EMU you use, you might have to adjust some scripts for the server to allow boats in that altitude of water. Some wont have any trouble, others will. |

I didn't say there was a 200 Z level. Can't anyone around here read? I said "a RANGE of OVER 200 z level". The full range is actually 254 (-127 to +127). If he starts at neg 80, then he is using most of that range. |

I'm using RunUO. I'll make a quick map and test boats at -80. Thank you all for your help. |
