Post subject:  Water to Land Tile Problem

I saw the other post concerning the Water to Land tiles...but mine is a little different.

I have this custom map, downloaded (I did not do it myself). We've been working on building towns and such for two days now, the map has been perfect....land/water/everything looks great.

Now, today, there are brown and black tiles in the water to land transition. They weren't there before.

The only thing I believe I've done that affects the map is freeze the map to add in the work so far.

Could someone help me with this problem?

Sounds like your statics got wiped. The transitional tiles at the coastlines (the water that covers the brown/black stuff) are stored in the statics, NOT the map. When you freeze stuff you've built in-game, that's added to the statics.

Ok, I follow you on that...but so then, how can I fix this?

You'll most liekly need to get the original statics again. Once wiped, they are gone. Did you have a backup?

I started with clean statics.

If I put those back in...does that mean I will lose all the building and work that's been done so far?

Yes you will. You should always make backups of the worldfile though (If it's sphere).

I believe there's ways of turning statics into dynamics, but Im sure other people are better in explaining how that works :P

[freeze and [unfreeze.

I use RunUO.

I took out the patch that had the newly made statics and staidx files from freezing the map........and everything is back to normal.

Couldnt see the buildings I froze tho......so I'm gonna have to go around and unfreeze everything.

Let's assume I'm successful with that, so I'd basically be at square one.

If I freeze everything individually, will that give me the bad tiles again?
or was that caused by doing [freezemap?

Load the shard with the statics you had froze your buildings to. UnFreeze those buildings etc, and save the shard, shut it down.
Then reload the shard again with the statics you have that do have the water statics on them.. with the world saved from prior statics, you will have your items still from UnFreezing your buildings, and then reFreeze them to the good set of statics.
Sounds like you may have used the command UnFreezeMap, and didnt FreezeMap again, wich wiped your water tiles maybe, from a reload.

Ok, after posting this, I unfroze the map and continued constructing buildings. I replaced the old statics files and the water tiles returned to normal.

We did enough construction that we felt we could open the shard, and so I did [freezemap again, freezing all our work into the static file.

I go thru UOGateway, which means using a patch. I did this, and when the patch downloaded and I logged in, the water tiles are messed up again.

I really dont know what i'm doing wrong here.

Can anyone help?
