Since I've never used axis I can't really give you a conparision, but I use Xuri's WorldBuilder. However it's for UOX. Another thing to consider is (I feel) not every single building needs to be 100% custom. You can extract houses out the Brit map and use those in your map. I think, for a "standard" town, you could realistically use half "generic" buildings. Then making the rest custom. This would save quite a bit of time and effort. Let me know if you have any other questions. -Ryandor |

Here's how I make them, it's a pretty fast way: Step 1: When you make the world using dragon make sure you put dirt to represent where the buildings will be Step 2: Put down all the tiles on all the dirt Step 3: Put down the corners (for a stone wall 01 d2 and 01 cf, just an example) Step 4: Put down the walls and remove some for the doors Step 5: Make the rooves (roofs?) Step 6: If you used flat rooves (roofs?) put those little mini-wall things to make them look good Step 7: use 'setid to make windows |

Xuri's Worldbuilder makes V-shaped roofs in a few secs but I still prefer flat roofs |

Xuri's Worldbuilder sucks at V-shaped roofs. It does the math wrong. They LOOK good, so no one complains (except me), but it doesn't do them right at all. It doesn't even come close to doing them right. They just LOOK right, heh. For example, the lowest roof tiles should be at an altitude of ground + 20... Xuri's tool puts them at like 13! I'll have to get up a screen shot of a house with a V-Shaped roof made by hand (the correct way), and a shot of the way Xuri's tool does it. You'll notice a glaring difference. But then, like I said, Xuri's tool does produce roofs that at least LOOK correct (most of the time)... I'm just a perfectionist. Things like that bug me. |

My question is how can something that has nothing to do with WorldForge be better than it? They do two completely different things. Axis: Gm/building tool WorldForge: map editor and melt/freeze statics tools. Apples and oranges. If what you really meant to say was WorldBuilder, then I would suggest better proofreading of your posts. However, I must say that since some people prefer to build in whatever server, then that is what they will use. Axis is for Sphere. WorldBuilder is for UOX. You can't really compare them in that respect. -Ryandor |

I know your about to get all over my a** Sydius hehe sorry for the typos. Well what i meant to say was compare it with worldbuilder sorry and ou=you. As for the part about axis it has a couple bugs as for every new program or addon to stuff but i am working on fixes for the roofs and i think it has promise for the sphere world building community. |

Well I haven't used the new version of Axis yet, so I can't really tell you if it does roofs better. Maybe I'll make a tutorial on how to make proper roofs ![]() At any rate, the lowest roof tile should be no lower (and no higher than) 20z above the floor. That's usually the easiest way to tell if a tool is doing them properly. |

What bugs? Axis bugs? Roofer bugs? The auto-roofer was made by a friend of mine after months of complaining about roofs on our shard hehe. He'll fix whatever bugs it has quickly I'm sure. A more complete rooftiles.cfg will be in the next axis build as well, which I'm told will be fairly soon. |
