I'm in the middle of working on SMC 2. New Features Planned: - Map2.mul (Ilshenar) support - Better Error-Handling - Better Configuration File Support - Better GUI (Graphical User Interface) - Fully XP-Compatable - Transparency Tiles (color 0) - Some misc. Bug Fixes Anything else you guys want but isn't listed there? I took the old version of SMC down (1.0.1), but 2 should be out really soon. |

A convertor that converts two bitmaps into one map0.mul... I released it like a month or two ago. Took it down a few days ago. |

Even though I'm in the middle of one of my "burnt out" phases, I am still glad to see you are still working on your map maker. Hopefully I'll be "un-burnt" once you're done. The only request I have at this time is that you integrate tile transitions into SMC. It would make map-making a lot quicker if the transitions were done as the map was rendered (like Dragon does), instead of having to run a transition program after the map was rendered. However SMC 2 turns out, I am really looking forward to it. |

Actually, it wouldn't be quicker, as you are thinking. SMC takes about 10 - 15 seconds to convert a map. Dragon takes about 5 minutes. The overhead of the calculations makes Dragon take that long. The only thing that that would benefit SMC by adding tranision capabilities, is making it easier for the person running it. Running one program instead of 2. Keeping the transition maker seperate is a better long run advantage. You can then use any transition maker program without being tied to any one program. You can pick the program you feel is best. -Ryandor |

Erm... First of all, I wouldn't call it "rendering" the map, as rendering usually refers to displaying, not converting. Second, it would be faster, if done properly, to have it generate the transitions during conversion. I don't plan on working on SMC 2 anytime soon, though. I've been too busy with real-life things, etc. I've gone from a suicidal athiest to an extremely happy full-blown Christian (heh, Ry is going to harrass me for that...) in about a weeks time. My head is still spinning. |

Ryan, I find the time it takes Dragon to make a map, including transitions, to be a lot faster than running a transitiion program after the base map is created. Dragon only takes a few minutes, like you said. Running Transition after making a map in SMC took over an hour last time I used it. If SMC had a transition function built into it like Dragon does, it would save a lot of time. Syd, you think that's bad? I've spent years studdying everying from Christ, Buddhism, Islam, Hindu, "Pagan", and the list goes on. The funny thing is, there are bits of wisdom in ALL of them... and many, many similarities when you look for them. |

If it's that slow, it's not because it's seperate, it's because it was coded poorly. Extremely poorly. |
