Post subject:  Old map0.mul bleedovers

Hello all. : )

I am having the following problem. If anyone has any info or gut instincts on this, please let me know!!

Building a custom world file.

I create the .bmp

I use Dragon Mod 9 to burn it to a map0.mul file.

Then I use DragonSP to burn the trees to static in my static.mul files.

Then I put them in my 3D, 2D, and every other directory I can find.

When I go to two different places in my map, there are actual land alterations there.

I've even deleted my old map0.mul incase it was corrupt or something and built a brand new one.

Here's what I'm finding.

I go to an island on the west end of the map, and it looks normal on the Axis preview. I get there and it is instead swampland south of Yew. Part of the orginal UO map.

Literally water is different, swamp, etc.

Second area like that, is if I go in the middle of my major desert region, there is a small square section that is actually grass and trees, with a couple of half buildings and a bank looking building. I've never seen that building before, but it is where Cove used to be. It's a dark gray slate building with an iron fence around it.

Wow, I'm lost. I've removed all the files that I can think of.

I've configured something wrong I guess. I tried to get some screen shots last night, but not sure how to load em yet on the boards.

I'm totally scratching my head on this one.

Anyone?

Thanks!

Update.

Malik on the Sphereserver.net boards suggested that the problem may lie in another .mul file somewhere that overrides. Like verdata.mul.

I thought the verdata.mul file was only for custom animations and paperdoll graphics.

Does this ring any bells?

I'll start digging around for a verdata.mul editor / tutorial.

You know, I am thinking then that this may exist in some mul file in the 3D client files.

Since Axis is reading from the 2d directory, but the game engine is reading from the 3d directory.

I'll screw around with some file combinations and see what comes from it.

btw, this is Blackette, currently at school.

Do a search for mapdif here on the forums. I'd bet that's the problem.
There are, in a nutshell, a verdata type file for the map files.

You'll find several posts that can fix this.
