If you continue with your map you will keep changing it continuously. Believe me. The basic outline is nice, apart from the thing connecting both the lands. it looks like a pretty long walk to me (try it out ingame). And a straight walk like that can be very boring, and it doesn't look that good.

The desert there looks nice, though Im wondering if you're going to use bridges to connect them, or if you let people go there by boat. For a boat, it is (in my opinion) a bit too close to the land.
Then, you might want to note that this area you made is pretty big ingame, don't let the bmp fool you :>.

I guess you're still going to add mountains and all to it? My suggestion would be to fill up the land a bit more. But that ofcourse is personal opinion and choice. I have no idea what you're planning with your map :). But for the basic outlines it looks really good.

Well, if it was a bit short it wouldnt be such a bad thing. Next to it being quite unrealistic (But hey, we're making fantasy worlds eh!) it'll be long and boring.

Read up on the tutorials on mountain making too, if you don't know how to do so yet. Can be pretty tricky if you don't do 'em right :).

Well you saw what I thought about the landbridge in the other post, so I won't repeat that (same as Armada anyway).

Don't forget that Mountains can be a great barrier. Have a long range running down the middle of a continent, with some passes in between maybe for border wars.

Also the island of desert and the island of ice. They are kinda overdone and boring, but then I guess they are obligatory, we all seem to have them in our maps (even me).

Otherwise it looks like the start of a good map and this whole as you go journal kind of post may make a good tutorial with some editing. The evolution of a Dragon map from rough idea to detailed map.

wow i didnt realize that my post was good hehe. But I am going to add mountains soon. This is my plan:
1. Basic Outline - Done
2. Fine tuning and making map better - In Process
3. Mountains - ASAP
4. Trees - ASAP

also how could i make the snow and desert islands more interesting?

far from it. keep working on it!! so far the land mass outlines look great.

and the rewards realy come in when you can actualy load it up and take a walk around your creation. if you ever thought being an admin gave you a little feeling of being an ingame god wait untill you step on lands and swamps created by your hand.

but seriouly is not crap. its something that you created.

and on a personal note i like the land bridge but i would make it either forest, swamp or jungle to prevent housing in the future and make it full of some realy nasty spawns so that to get from one side to the other you will have to battle your way though. this way elminating the boardum of a long walk.

I agree with gawin, your map is starting to take shape. Give it more time and it may even put some of the ones on the screenshot page to shame.

About the desert island, (sorry, can't help much with the ice island, never done much with frozen landscapes). You can always try adding oasis areas to it, and maybe a mountain range through the middle of it, or maybe a volcano where you'll later build some kind of fire temple for some desert cult. Just some ideas.

You have your land form there and it is looking pretty good... you now need to think about where you want your towns, dungeons etc.

When i planned mine i got the basic shape of the land masses i wanted, i then added the mountains, then the towns and dungeon locations where i wanted them to be, i then just added what would look good around the rest of the area.
